When federal leaders in Washington take away key protections like federal court supervision over our local police, they leave it up to us to protect our community. That is why the Louisville Urban League is joining our neighbors at the upcoming Quarterly Community Meeting hosted by Louisville's Independent Monitor, Effective Law Enforcement for All. Come stand with us, ask questions, and make sure our community's voice is heard. What: A public meeting to discuss police reform and review the first report on Louisville's Community Commitment. You will get to ask questions and share what is happening in your own neighborhood. When: Monday, September 14, 2026. Doors open at 5:30 PM for light snacks, and the program starts at 6:00 PM. Where: Simmons College of Kentucky (Administration & Library Building, 1000 S. 4th St.) — please use the Kentucky St. entrance. Real change does not come from waiting for outside help; it comes when we use our collective power at home. Showing up to demand fair treatment and holding local leaders accountable is how we shift the power back to the people. No RSVP is needed—just bring your voice, your family, and your neighbors! Free Spanish and ASL interpreters will be provided on site.

Information provided will be specific to Jefferson County, KY, but is also applicable statewide. Join the Louisville Urban League's Power Shift as we handwrite postcards to our neighbors, encouraging them to get out and vote in this upcoming election! Please bring your favorite writing pen (we will have basic pens available as well) and some creative energy! Light refreshments and an uplifting environment will be provided.
